News Media

The Lac La Ronge Indian Band publishes a newspaper, The Cree Communicator, to update the membership on band activities and accomplishments. Back issues, starting with the April 2006 edition, are archived as PDF files which can be read with Adobe Acrobat Reader (click this link to download the software for your computer).

The content of each edition is written and edited by LLRIB communications officer Carmen Pauls Orthner. Graphic design services are provided by Margaret Smart of cre8iv Communications, La Ronge, with printing provided by The Melfort Journal.

The print circulation of The Cree Communicator is 2,000 copies, with copies going to all six band communities, as well as to band members in Pinehouse and Brabant Lake. Copies are also sent to the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations and the Prince Albert Grand Council, as well as to other interested businesses and agencies, including those belonging to the group of companies under our economic development arm, Kitsaki Management.

In addition to producing our own newspaper, we also maintain good working relationships with the La Ronge area media, including the La Ronge Northerner newspaper, Missinipi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) and CBC Radio, whose local noon hour host and “Voice of the North”, Tom Roberts, is a member of our band.

Our band’s activities often draw interest from outside media, as well as a wide range of agencies and individuals seeking input on everything from co-operative governance to business strategies. If you have an inquiry or would like to set up an interview, contact Carmen Pauls Orthner at (306) 425-4938 (office) / (306) 425-7399 or e-mail her at cpaulsorthner@llrib.ca.
